Our History

Coppins Established 1979

The story of Coppins began over 45 years ago, when in the late 1970s founder John Coppin, having left the fashionable ‘Way In’ jewellery boutique at Harrods in London, set out in search of his own premises. Together with his wife Ann and their young family, they moved from London to Wiltshire and, in 1979, established a fully functioning workshop in the basement of their new home in Bradford-on-Avon. From these humble beginnings, they carried out jewellery repairs and commissions, steadily building a loyal customer base. Their passion and vision for an artisan showroom and workshop of their own soon became a reality.

In 1983, John and Ann opened Coppins in the historic market town of Corsham with a modest stock level and a small team. Through their dedication and exceptional customer service, they continued to grow the business and earned a reputation as one of Wiltshire’s leading jewellers.

Traditional Goldsmithing

At Coppins, we are dedicated to the design and creation of fine jewellery. Our work spans everything from bespoke commissions to the restoration and remodelling of treasured pieces, with each item crafted with precision, care and respect for traditional techniques. We source fine gemstones and precious metals from trusted suppliers around the world, allowing us to work with materials that are both beautiful and responsibly chosen.

Our fully equipped in-house workshop brings together traditional goldsmithing skills with modern technology, including laser welding, microscope-assisted stone setting and computer-aided design. This combination enables us to achieve exceptional accuracy, whether we are hand-forging metal, restoring a much-loved heirloom or creating a completely new design.

Bespoke engagement and wedding rings form a significant part of our work, and we are always honoured to be involved in pieces that celebrate life’s most meaningful moments. From the first sketch to the final polish, we take care to ensure each design reflects the personality, story and intention behind it.

Our workshop is home to a talented team of designers, goldsmiths, silversmiths and stone setters, each bringing many years of experience to their craft. Their technical skill is matched by a commitment to offering thoughtful and attentive service, ensuring every client feels supported, informed and welcome throughout their journey with us.

Daisy Coppin, DGA

Daisy Coppin, DGA, is a qualified diamond and gemstone specialist as well as a talented designer, and she leads the team at Coppins. As a second-generation family jeweller, Daisy has been involved in the business from a young age, developing a lifelong passion for fine jewellery. She continues to expand her expertise by attending gemmological conferences and international trade exhibitions across Europe and Asia, and by working closely with UK-based stone suppliers to source fine diamonds and precious gemstones. This dedication fuels her creativity and inspires both the in-house team and her clients.

“One of the real joys of my work is when a customer comes into the shop and we can have a genuine conversation about what they’re looking for. Listening, understanding and getting the piece just right is one of the things I love most.”
