Our bespoke jewellery design service is a chance to create something personal, thoughtfully designed and made especially for you. Whether you are marking a special occasion, reimagining unworn jewellery or starting with a completely new idea, our team will guide you through the process.
From the first conversation and initial sketches to choosing gemstones, refining the design and creating the finished piece, we work closely with you at every stage to make sure the jewellery feels right for you.
New lease of Life
Heirloom Remodelling
Inherited jewellery often carries great sentimental value, even if the piece itself is seldom worn. Heirloom remodelling allows us to preserve the meaning, precious metal and gemstones from an existing piece, while giving it a new lease of life in a design that feels more suited to you.
Whether you would like to refresh a family heirloom, combine stones from several pieces or completely reimagine unworn jewellery, our team can talk you through the possibilities and help create something that can be enjoyed for years to come.
How it works
The Design Process
1 - Getting Started
The first step in creating a bespoke piece of jewellery is to book a free appointment with one of our in-house designer jewellers. Our bespoke service has no additional design charge, and any quotation provided is without obligation.
Booking with us is simple. You can book by phone, email or send us a WhatsApp to arrange an appointment.
If you are unable to visit us in person, we can also discuss and design bespoke commissions remotely by phone, email or video call, so you can begin the process wherever you are.
2 - Inspiration
Once your appointment is in the diary, it is time to start thinking about the piece you would like to create. Don’t worry if you are unsure where to begin. Inspiration can come from many places, from jewellery you already love to colours, gemstones, textures, places or personal memories.
It can be helpful to think about your preferences beforehand. You might have a favourite metal, gemstone, colour, finish or style, or a particular meaning you would like the piece to hold.
Photos, sketches and any other imagery are always useful, whether you bring them with you or send them to us ahead of your appointment. These details help us understand your ideas and begin shaping them into a design.

3 - Design
During your appointment, our designers will talk through your ideas, preferences and budget before beginning to develop initial sketches. These concepts can then be refined with you until we reach a design that feels right.
You are welcome to explore diamonds, gemstones and different metal options for inspiration. We can also source stones from our trusted suppliers for you to consider, helping you choose the right combination for your design and budget.
Once the final design and costs have been agreed, we may create a detailed drawing, CAD design or model in wax or metal, depending on the piece. A non-refundable deposit, usually 50%, is then taken before making begins.
4 - Creation
Once the design is confirmed, our workshop can begin creating your piece. Depending on the design, some pieces may be hand forged, while others may be designed using CAD, cast and then finished by hand.
We use a thoughtful combination of traditional goldsmithing skills and modern technology, choosing the right approach for the piece in front of us. Throughout the process, our goldsmiths can provide progress updates and photographs where appropriate.
Bespoke pieces typically take around 6 to 8 weeks to complete, although we will always do our best to work within your timescale where possible.
5 - Collection
Once your bespoke piece is complete, it will pass through our workshop and polishing room before being carefully checked and boxed. When you collect it, we will make sure you are happy with the finished piece and that the size, fit and finish are just right.
6 - Aftercare
All Coppins bespoke creations come with a two-year warranty against defects in design, materials and workmanship. They also benefit from complimentary lifetime cleaning and polishing at our Corsham workshop.
We recommend having your piece cleaned and checked periodically. This gives our team the opportunity to examine it carefully with a jeweller’s loupe or under the microscope and check for any signs of wear.
With regular care, your bespoke jewellery can continue to be worn and enjoyed for many years to come. Full details can be found in our Warranty & Aftercare policy.
Craftsmanship
Designed & Made In-House
Our onsite workshop brings together designers, goldsmiths, silversmiths, stone setters and gemmologists, each with their own specialist skills and knowledge. Working closely as a team, we can guide a design from the first conversation through to the finished piece, with practical advice at every stage.
Whether you are creating a bespoke engagement ring, remodelling inherited jewellery, marking a special occasion or tailoring a design to a particular budget, we will help you explore what is possible and create something personal, considered and beautifully made.
