Understanding the Cost of Bespoke Jewellery
Every bespoke commission is different. Some customers come to us with a clear idea for a new piece, while others would like to remodel inherited, sentimental or unworn jewellery.
As each design is individually created, there is no fixed price. The final cost will depend on the design, precious metal, gemstones and the work involved.
Our initial design consultations are free, with no additional charge for our bespoke design service. We'll discuss your ideas and budget before providing a clear quotation, with no obligation to proceed.
Starting With a New Design
You don't need to arrive with a finished design. Whether you have a particular gemstone, style or occasion in mind, our designers will help develop your ideas into a piece that's right for you.
We'll guide you through the available options, explaining how different materials, gemstones and design details can influence both the finished piece and its cost. If you're working to a particular budget, we'll recommend the best way to achieve the result you're looking for.
Remodelling Existing Jewellery
Remodelling allows you to preserve the sentiment of existing jewellery while creating something you'll enjoy wearing again.
We'll carefully assess any jewellery you bring to us and advise what can be reused. Gemstones can often be incorporated into a new design, while suitable precious metal may also be reused. Where this isn't possible, we'll explain the available options and any value that can be put towards your new commission.
Your Quotation
Once the design and materials have been agreed, we'll provide a clear quotation with no obligation to proceed.
As precious metal and gemstone prices can fluctuate, quoted prices cannot be guaranteed for extended periods and may need to be reviewed before work begins.
If you decide to go ahead, we usually ask for a 20% non-refundable deposit, unless you're supplying your own materials. The remaining balance is payable when your jewellery is complete.

I recently took a piece of jewellery to be repaired here and had a wonderful experience. It was only costume jewellery but has personal value to me so I wasn't sure if Coppins would be interested in such a small job. However, in the shop the staff were so friendly and understanding, and not only was the jewellery repaired, they also gave it a full clean! Altogether I had a fantastic experience and for a reasonable price. Thank you!

I have had several good experiences with Coppins in the past but have been especially impressed with this latest. I wanted to design a ring involving a gem bought on a special trip and my grandmothers gold. The team at Coppins took the time to listen to my brief and helped make my vision a reality. I had a fantastic experience with Coppins Goldsmiths. Simon and Daisy went above and beyond to help me ensure the bangle I purchased was the correct size. They truly went out of their way to make sure it arrived in time for Christmas, which I greatly appreciated. Highly recommend! Coppins made my mother’s wedding ring over 30 years ago, which went on to inspire my own beautiful band; all made in their beautiful shop on the High Street. Over the years I have been lucky enough to acquire numerous treasures from Coppins to add to my jewellery box, including beautiful pendants, rings and my favourite pearl earrings.
