Bespoke & Remodelling Pricing

Understanding the Cost of Bespoke Jewellery

Every bespoke commission begins a little differently. Some customers come to us with a clear idea and would like their jewellery created entirely from new materials. Others bring inherited, sentimental or unworn pieces that they would like us to remodel into something new.

As each piece is individually designed and made, there is no single price for bespoke jewellery. The cost will depend on the design, precious metal, gemstones and the work involved.

Our initial design consultations are free, and there is no additional charge for our bespoke design service. We will discuss your ideas and budget before providing a clear quotation, with no obligation to proceed.

Starting With a New Idea

You do not need to arrive with a finished design. You may have a particular gemstone, style or piece of jewellery in mind, or simply an occasion you would like to mark.

Our designers will talk through your ideas, how you would like the jewellery to be worn and the budget you are comfortable working within. We can then explore different precious metals, gemstones and design details, explaining how each choice may affect the overall cost.

Where appropriate, we can consider different versions of an idea to help you decide where you would most like to place your budget. Changes to the gemstone, precious metal, scale or finer details can sometimes make a considerable difference while retaining the character of the design.

Remodelling Existing Jewellery

Existing jewellery can provide both the inspiration and the materials for a new piece. You may have inherited jewellery that holds great sentimental value, pieces that no longer suit your style, or several items that you would like to combine into one considered design.

Our designers and workshop team will carefully assess the precious metal and gemstones to determine what may be suitable for reuse. Gemstones can often be removed and incorporated into a new design, while suitable precious metal may be melted down and transformed within our workshop.

Not every material can be reused in every design, so we will explain the available options before any decisions are made. Sometimes it may be more practical to reuse the gemstones with new precious metal, or to use only part of the original metal within the finished piece.

The Value of Your Existing Precious Metal

If your new design does not use all the precious metal you bring to us, any remaining metal can be valued separately. You can choose to have its value deducted from the cost of your commission or paid directly to you by bank transfer.

Precious metal that is not suitable for reuse may also have a value that can be put towards your new jewellery. We will assess everything you bring to us and explain clearly what can be reused, what can be credited and how this will affect the final cost.

Working With Your Budget

Bespoke jewellery can be created across a wide range of budgets. The overall cost will depend on the type and weight of precious metal, the gemstones selected, the complexity of the design and the amount of goldsmithing and stone setting required.

If you're working to a particular budget, just let us know. We'll help you explore the options available, recommending different materials, gemstones or design details where appropriate, and explaining how each choice may affect the overall cost.

Our aim is to help you achieve the best possible result within your budget. We will always explain the choices available and agree the design and cost with you before any work begins.

Your Quotation and Deposit

Once the design and materials have been agreed, we will provide a clear quotation. Our quotations are provided without pressure to proceed, giving you time to consider the design and the options discussed.

As precious metal and gemstone prices can fluctuate, quoted prices cannot be guaranteed for extended periods and may need to be reviewed before work begins.

If you decide to go ahead, we usually ask for a non-refundable deposit of 20%, unless you are supplying your own materials. The remaining balance is payable when your jewellery is complete.
